‘Mental Differences’

As I journey through life I learn more and more you cannot accept people for who or what they profess to be. From my RECENT experience there has been a hidden agenda or secret lifestyle the majority of the time. I didn’t always have this view point. I have lived the majority of my life being able to take someone for their word. But as I get older my mental way of thinking is changing because of  more recent life experience. Lets get it straight I am not saying all individuals have ill motives or are ‘bad’ individuals. Not at all. I understand no one is perfect and we all have faults, including myself. But I am focusing on the ‘deliberate’ actions and false words spoken or done by an individual. Words and actions that someone knows would hurt someone but they don’t care, or they think those actions are hidden so they continue in them. For some reason these individuals go through life hurting individuals and not realizing their actions are a derivative of their ‘mentality’. I really want you to understand this mentality, so I am going to expound on this mental way of thinking.

mentality: the characteristic attitude of mind or way of thinking of a person or group; the capacity for intelligent thought.

People tend to think of you the way they are. Whatever you are on the inside is how you will view life/people on the outside. For instance if you go on a date with someone, some people automatically think you are going to sleep with that person. Why would they think this? Its either one of two things.  1) You may have displayed a pattern of behavior that leads them to believe this or 2) thats what they would do in your situation. I am a trusty person. I have always given individuals the benefit of the doubt. Have you ever heard the phrase, ‘trust is earned’? Well I’ve lived opposite that, I trust you until you give me a reason to not trust. Thats me, I’m different, have always been different. I try to break away from trusting but something in me sees the bright side before I see the bad side. So when I do something, someone with a personality prone not to trust would view my motives differently.

The bottom line is we are often judged at the level of someones mental capacity. A persons mental capacity is comprised of their life experiences that has shaped their way of thinking. Be careful how you view things. Try to understand someone at their level. Don’t believe you know everything and that everyone is the same. And most importantly don’t believe everyone is like you or thinks like you. Your perception is not always everyone else’s perception.

To sum up this blog because I can go on an on….What we can rest in, is that one day we will all be judged, not only our actions but our motives as well. But the One judging on that day will not be biased, and will not judge according to a ‘mentality’ but He will judge according to righteousness and truth. He will judge the true motives of our heart. Until then all we can do is live life to the best of our ability by doing the best to keep our motives as pure as we can, while helping others.  It doesn’t matter the mentality or one’s outlook on life…as long as we TRUST in God, rest assured He will take care of the rest!  God bless!!

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7
