A Few Ways the Lord Communicates

Tonight I am up. Not sure what is wrong however the Holy Spirit has been nudging me all night. Has this ever happened to you? You feel something is not quite right but you have no clue what it is. The Spirit of God nudges you when He wants to tell you something. In those instances you are to pray. Praying clears the path to understanding with clarity what He is attempting to relay. Although, you may not know what to pray for, you must trust His Spirit to lead you in prayer.

What is it to allow the Holy Spirit to lead? Once you receive the Holy Spirit and have surrendered to the will of God, He guides and communicates with you in various capacities. I am only going to touch on a few here just to give you a basic understanding. I am going to leave you with a little homework, not much, but enough to prompt you to dig deeper into the Word for yourself.

Below I have listed a few ways the Lord communicates with us. Please read them and let me know what you think.

Personal Appearance

(Genesis 18:1-3) And the Lord appeared unto him(Abraham) in the plains of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day;  And he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground, And said, My Lord, if now I have found favour in thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant:

(Acts 7:1-3) Then said the high priest, Are these things so? And he said, Men, brethren, and fathers, hearken; The God of glory appeared unto our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Charran, And said unto him, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and come into the land which I shall shew thee.

Audible Voice

(Acts 9:3-7) And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven: And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do. And the men which journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man.

Visions or Dreams

(Acts 2:17) ‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.’

(Genesis 37:5) And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated him yet the more. (read this chapter)

(Daniel 2:1)  And in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams, wherewith his spirit was troubled, and his sleep brake from him. (read this chapter)

Ministry of Angels

(Luke 1:11) And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense.

(Luke 1:26-27) And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary.

(Hebrews 13:2) Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

Awakening a Scripture in the Heart

( Luke 4:17-19) And the book of the prophet Isaiah was handed to Him (Jesus). And He opened the book and found the place where it was written, “THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS UPON ME, BECAUSE HE ANOINTED ME TO PREACH THE GOSPEL TO THE POOR. HE HAS SENT ME TO PROCLAIM RELEASE TO THE CAPTIVES, AND RECOVERY OF SIGHT TO THE BLIND, TO SET FREE THOSE WHO ARE OPPRESSED, TO PROCLAIM THE FAVORABLE YEAR OF THE LORD.”…

Ministry of a Prophet or Preacher

(Mark 1:1-3) The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. As it is written in Isaiah the prophet: “BEHOLD, I SEND MY MESSENGER AHEAD OF YOU, WHO WILL PREPARE YOUR WAY; THE VOICE OF ONE CRYING IN THE WILDERNESS, ‘MAKE READY THE WAY OF THE LORD, MAKE HIS PATHS STRAIGHT.’

A ‘Knowing’

(Matthew 9:3-5) And some of the scribes said to themselves, “This fellow blasphemes.” And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, “Why are you thinking evil in your hearts? “Which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up, and walk

These are just a few ways the Lord speaks to His people. Of course, by now for me it is late (2am) and I am getting sleepy. I hope this gets you off to a good start to finding more ways.

….. Love you! God bless! Good night…..
