Loneliness can be intense, as intense as a heartbreak or even physical pain. You may experience sadness, a sense of worthlessness, hopelessness or even anger. Oftentimes loneliness leads to depression. I have had my bout with both, loneliness and depression. We ALL undergo temptation to feed those thoughts, to give in to that mindset which leads to a destructive path of depression. But the Lord has given us authority over those thoughts and imaginations. “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” -2 Corinthians 10:5. You must will yourself and make a conscious decision you will not be drawn into this mindset or stronghold of loneliness and depression.
You must know Gods will and know that anything else is contrary. Your life goes in the direction of your dominate thoughts, what you meditate on. Changing the way you think can change your situation and circumstances. Think on the things of God, think of his plan for your life. He does have a plan for you. He says, ‘For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future,”- Jeremiah 29:11. The more you saturate yourself in Him, the more you begin to think like Him. Plant seeds of His word into your life, and you will reap that harvest.
What if you are beyond the beginning stages of loneliness and depression? What if your thought patterns have already taken a turn to the left? This is when you must WILL yourself to seek help. You are not worthless. You are worth more than you think, or else you would not be going through what you are going through. If your depression is due to circumstances, change your routine. Surround yourself with positivity and pray. If you feel you need help from a physician, go get it. Call someone you can trust, talk with them. Stop thinking thoughts of failure; you are far from a failure. You must do all you can to change the way you think.
Trust God, and know that He will see you through. You must do your part by planting seeds of His word into your thought pattern. Trust that His Word will penetrate, “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” – Hebrews 4:12. Remember to mix the Word with your FAITH and BELIEVE, or it won’t profit you anything, “For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached DID NOT PROFIT THEM, NOT BEING MIXED WITH FAITH in them that heard it.” Hebrews 4:2.
I am not an expert, but I do speak from experience. Proclaim your victory, proclaim your success, proclaim the goodness of God and watch your life begin to turn for the better. Know that I am praying for you and Jesus loves you.
“No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” – 1 Corinthians 10:13.
